Work Location: Lake Spokane Elementary
Nature and Scope of Job: (1 or 2 sentence summary of position)
The current position is teaching 2nd or 3rd grade in an Elementary School setting. The teacher will
regularly collaborate with other staff members and work closely with the Nine Mile Falls community.
Position Reports To: Tim Smith, Principal
Classification: Certificated Teacher
Work Day: Monday – Friday; 2023/24 School Year Contracted Days
Begin: 2023/24 School Year
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY:
As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Nine Mile Falls
Education Association (NMEA) and Policies and Procedures of Nine Mile Falls School District. CBAs
and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the Human Resources page of the Nine Mile Falls School

The annual base salary range for the position is: Min.$48,000.00 - Max.$92,133.00. Salary placement
will be at Step 0 of the Nine Mile Educators Association Collective Bargaining Agreement unless
documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Collective

Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less
than a full term shall be entitled to a prorated part of the sick leave allowance Each employee shall earn
three (3) annual leave days per year. Employees less than 1.0 FTE will receive a prorated share of annual
leave based on their FTE.
Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for benefits through the
School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life
Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at
least 5 months over the school year are eligible for retirement through the State Department of Retirement
Services.
Primary Job Functions
1. Self-contained 2nd or 3rd Grade Classroom Teacher
2. Teach curricular areas such as reading, writing, math and science while utilizing district
curriculum and framework and state standards
3. Be able to effectively teach all students at the 2nd or 3rd grade level
4. Be able to effectively collaborate with all grade levels and staff
5. Be able to promote student success and maintain classroom discipline
6. Work as an effective member of the Lake Spokane Elementary learning community
7. Prepare students to meet standard on SBA, MAP and other assessments
8. Effectively and professionally proctor students during state and district assessments
9. Maintain accurate lesson plans and appropriate student data and records
10. Communicate student progress to parents
11. Fulfill other duties as assigned by building administrator

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements (Traits, Education, Certifications, Experience, Training, physical requirements, etc.):
1. Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements
2. Current WSP/FBI clearance
3. Demonstrates a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to monitor learning styles and
progress of all students
4. Demonstrates classroom management strategies and procedures that address success for all
students
5. Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with students, parents and staff
6. Demonstrates and effectively communicates with students and parents
7. Experience and/or knowledge of Common Core Standards required
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills
9. Successful teaching experience at appropriate grade level preferred
Desired Qualifications
1. Prefer classroom experience at 2nd - 5th grade level
2. Provide an exceptional educational experience to all students; communicate an enthusiasm for
learning
3. Provide clear and focused instruction for all students by using a variety of teaching strategies to
meet the needs of all students to assure successful learning through a defined course of study
4. Prepare teaching materials and reports for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and
providing documentation of teacher and student progress
5. Knowledge of the unique physical, psychological and social changes students experience and a
desire to help them grow in these particular areas
6. Ability to use a variety of teaching strategies which may include cooperative learning,
constructive instruction, or additional research-based facilitation
7. Ability to perform a variety of specialized tasks; maintain records; establish and maintain
cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and school personnel; work as a team
member; and meet schedules and deadlines
8. Knowledge and application of quality classroom-based assessment practices
9. Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting
teacher’s expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom
goals in the home environment
10. Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural
backgrounds, and direct and evaluate support personnel
11. Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and various community agencies for the purpose of
improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions, and planning curriculum and
willingness to work with grade level team
12. Direct instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an
effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students and be supportive of
parent volunteers in the classroom
13. Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations
14. Knowledge and Experience working with the PBIS model
15. Ability to provide safe learning environment
16. Monitor student activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
17. Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours
18. Comply with all district policies and procedures
19. Comply with the Code of Professional Conduct
20. Perform related duties as assigned
