Job Description:
A Cost Controller is responsible for controlling the project costs; this includes planning, developing, controlling, and forecasting the project’s budget.
- Evaluating project and conducting project cost/ benefit analysis.
- Conducting feasibility studies (technical and commercial aspects), assessing capital cost involved and evaluating the viability of new project evaluation techniques.
- Effectively lead and develop the Estimating team to achieve Company and individual objectives.
- Planning, directing, budgeting, scheduling, monitoring, controlling & reporting different projects.
- Identifying the critical areas and informing the management regarding delays in the project.
- Responsible to control and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded.
- Provide planning and cost controlling support for all projects which includes variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress to the preparation of customer billing processes advice to the internal PMT team as and when required.
- Perform technical and commercial review of long time tenders (sub-contractors quotations) for the preparation of Service agreements.
- Ensure effective project implementation and utilize productive reports from the creation of WBS with the use of project management system to monitor the status of all purchases, invoicing and delivery up to the closure of the project.
- Coordinate and work with the project management team to resolve project issues to ensure the delivery/completion of the project work.
- Attend project meetings and discussions with the PMT and external clients.
- Perform project costing related reporting to the team and managements review on a monthly basis to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget.
- Creating budget awareness and contributing in the management process, working within a multi-cultural environment and identifying critical activities and advising corrective action to avoid slippage.
- Managing the construction procurement program, to allocate Sub-contractors for all the systems.
- Evaluating the quotations received technically based on the project specifications.
- Meeting with suppliers to discuss their proposed design and adjust them according to client’s requirements.
- Reviewing the technical submittals and drawings.
- Coordinate with Construction team start from the base of the building for providing services incorporation.
- Comply, implement & participate in the improvement of established ISO QMS & EHSMS procedures/ documentations and maintain records keeping.
- Ensure that all subordinates work in compliance with the Galaxy EHSMS requirements.
- Participate with relevant employees in reviewing individual systems and procedures in EHSMS.
- Actively encourage the participation and involvement of employees in the effective implementation of the Galaxy EHSMS requirements.
- Ensure the project cost risks are properly controlled, and where necessary, issue corrective and preventive actions.
- Updates job knowledge by remaining current on codes and requirements; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/engineering or relevant field strongly preferred
- Minimum of 05 years relevant experience in an Contracting Co. with at least 03 years gulf experience in the Gulf/UAE as an construction Cost Control.
- Exceptionally well organized with an aptitude for data
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- Solid networking and interpersonal skills
- Able to generate budgets and reports
- Strong presentation skills, able to explain concepts concisely and accurately
- Able to develop strong, cooperative relationships with department heads
- Creative thinking skills and ability to solve problems.
- Should have good experience in Construction costing.
- Solid experience in cost control of Construction projects.
