Instruction & Engagement Library Assistant [United States]

Reporting to the Instruction & Engagement Librarian and in consultation with the Manuscript and Archives Librarian, the Instruction & Engagement Library Assistant supports instruction, engagement, and garden projects at the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library. The Instruction & Engagement Library Assistant (I&ELA) assists the Instruction & Engagement Librarian with class instruction and leading tours, including the preparation for these visits. The I&ELA helps with the logistics of and takes part in collection displays for events, and other aspects of Library-initiated events. (Classes and events are primarily held at the Clark Library site, but may also be on the Westwood campus or offsite.) The I&ELA adds content to the Clark Library's social media program. The I&ELA assists with updates to the content of the Clark Library website and makes suggestions for research guides. Under the guidance of the Manuscript and Archives Librarian, the I&ELA helps to manage the Clark's Seed Library program, including providing backup supervision of student workers, maintaining the physical seed library, and writing/editing the Seed Library Mailchimp newsletter. The I&ELA also works with the Manuscript and Archives Librarian, Clark Head Librarian, and other partners on public engagement and other related projects for the Clark's grounds and gardens, including infrastructure and landscape planning as needed.

The UCLA William Andrews Clark Memorial Library is a rare book and manuscript library open to all researchers who wish to conduct research with its holdings. The Library is located in a 1926 Beaux Arts building, listed as Los Angeles City Historic-Cultural Monument #123, and is situated on five landscaped acres in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles. The Clark Library is administered by the UCLA's Center for 17th- and 18th-Century Studies. The Clark Library and the Center for 17th- and 18th-Century Studies present a wide range of public and academic programming, including conferences, lectures, concerts, and workshops.
