Australian SMSF Accountant | Remote [Philippines]


 

We are on the lookout for a detail oriented SMSF Accountant who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) and providing expert advice to clients on tax, superannuation, and compliance matters. The ideal candidate’s primary role will involve ensuring that all SMSFs under your responsibility are fully compliant with relevant legislation and regulations. This role will also be responsible for ensuring that all work is completed accurately and within established timeframes.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and taxation summaries.
  • Accurately complete financial statements and income tax returns primarily for SMSF’s but also for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals as required.
  • Large component of the role will be processing and managing SMSFs.
  • Consider and implement taxation planning for tax minimisation.
  • Preparation of BAS, IAS and TBAR returns.
  • Build and maintain client relationships over time.
  • Preparation of clear and concise work papers as evidence of work performed.
  • Prepare tax planning and investment strategy reports for clients demonstrating a high degree of competency in these areas.
  • Assess complex tax matters for review by senior team members.
  • Identify areas to improve the state of file or data collection and implement improvement measures for the next opportunity to complete the client’s work.
  • Appropriately scope all work for job completion and develop plan for completion.
  • Work with a team of accountants and manage workflow.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA qualification is a plus.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Australian Accounting and Tax system.
  • Excellent communicator able to give clear written and verbal communication to everyone.
  • You thrive on using your analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to identify and solve issues before they arise.
  • You can work in a fast-paced environment, with strong time management and prioritization skills and sense of urgency to address critical business issues.
  • You see the big picture while focusing on the process and procedures necessary to produce deliverables.
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite, Xero and familiarity with BGL 360 is a plus.
