About the SnT...


The University of Luxembourg seeks to hire a highly motivated and outstanding researcher in the areas of Embedded Systems, at its Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust (SnT). SnT is a centre carrying out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) systems and services. SnT is active in several international research projects funded by the European Space Agency and the EU7th framework program. The Centre is rapidly expanding its research activities and is seeking a highly motivated Researcher who wishes to contribute to its partnership and research projects. The successful candidate will perform theoretical and experimental research on Embedded Systems applied for future communication and radar systems.

Your Role...


The successful candidate will join a strong and motivated research team led by Prof. Björn Ottersten and Dr. Symeon Chatzinotas to work on one or more of the following areas:

  • Research on Embedded Systems and Artificial Intelligence for:
    • MIMO communications with LTE, NR, 5G and beyond.
    • Next generation MIMO satellite communications.
    • Distributed MIMO satellite applications.
    • Next generation Earth observation and Remote Sensing applications including automotive and civilian radar.
  • Distributed and Collaborative processing systems.
  • On-board processing techniques.
  • Internet-of-Things, Machine-to-Machine communications.
  • Vehicular communications and autonomous driving.
  • Opening his own research line in synergy with the currents research projects.

The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Researching the predefined areas.
  • Participating in research proposal drafting and project deliverables.
  • Collaborate in ongoing ESA, European, and national projects.
  • Disseminating results through scientific publications and conference presentations.
  • Assisting in the organization of relevant workshops and demos.

Your Profile...


Qualification: The candidate should possess a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or affine. With a proven record of accomplishment in the area of Embedded Systems

Experience: The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and experience in a number of the following topics:

  • A solid mathematical background.
  • Embedded systems techniques.
  • Embedded processing systems. ZINQ, ARM with architectures 32&64 bits
  • Embedded operating systems, FreeRTOS, Yocto, Petalinux, PINQ.
  • Hardware Software co-design techniques. FPGA design and verification.
  • Software Development using C++, Python, MATLAB.
  • Being familiar with the commerically available embedded system design and simulation tools in particular the Xilinx tool set. VIVADO, VITIS, HLS, SDK, SystemGenerator, etc.
  • Knowledge of Communications and Networking standards would be a benefit.

Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
