The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Electrical Draftsperson with a passion for learning, and the technical ability and interest to understand commercial building technology solutions. You will join a team of software, lighting, electronics engineers, and designers to assist in drafting viable solutions for the implementation of lighting, energy and building management systems. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of drafting electrical systems with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Reporting to the Engineering Lead and Snr Draftsman, you will utilise your electrical drafting knowledge, experience and time management skills to act as a support mechanism to the Snr Draftsman. The position will support the business to produce results that are responsive, accurate, and compliant with all standards and regulations.
This can be either a full-time, part-time or casual position depending on experience and conditions.

Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
The successful person will be working on technical designs as well as providing operational/ engineering support as outlined (but not limited to):
Design and Drafting
- Create detailed concept design drawing packages for tender, construction, and as-built, ensuring accuracy and completeness under senior draftsperson supervision
- Prepare electrical designs, including plans, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, and electrical equipment layouts under Snr Draftsperson supervision
- Interpret plans, regulations, and codes of practice to ensure design tasks meet appropriate technical standards and client requirements under Snr Draftsperson supervision
- Collaborate with other team members to gather and understand the information needed to deliver clean and effective drawings that comply with assurance procedures
- Ensure the accuracy of drawings, especially title blocks, drawing numbers, notes, etc
- Ensure the latest drawings are used for design and drafting
- Maintain project drawings, documentation, and records in an accurate and organized manner to ensure the completeness and accuracy of all data
- Estimate materials quantities and collaborate with the Engineering Team to develop Bills of Materials for projects.
- Ensure document control is in line with standard operating procedures
- Support Engineers with the development of designs and drawings
Software and Tools
- Use standard design and drafting practices and relevant software tools, including MS Office, MS Project, Wrike, Simpro, Slack, Google Drive, Dropbox, CAD, and Bluebeam.
- Maintain proficiency with relevant software tools and keep up-to-date with new software and technology used in drafting.
- Ensure all documentation guidelines are followed as advised by the Snr Draftsperson
- Maintain efficiency and accuracy in standard design and drafting practices
- Practical experience in an Electrical trade environment is highly regarded
Skills and experience
Requirements
- Competent in AutoCAD
- Experiences in Revit - minimum 2 years preferable
- Proven experience working in a similar role preferably 2 yrs +
- Able to competently interpret and communicate complex technical information
- Computer literate including competency in MS Office
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise work, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines, and follow through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
- Experience with working on multiple projects simultaneously/concurrently
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Impeccable attention to detail, judgement, and integrity
Bonus
- A degree in Engineering/Drafting or a similar related field will be highly regarded
