Our Networks Infrastructure business group (NI) includes IP, optical Fixed Access and network automation technologies and related services sold to our communication service provider customers as well as adjacent markets including webscale companies and enterprises. Our comprehensive wide area networking (WAN) solutions enable our customers to build and operate automated, secure, and high-performance networks at massive scale – helping to interconnect people and things from any broadband access modality to – and among - edge clouds, central clouds, the Internet, and other services and data centers.

The candidate in this role will be required to work in a consultative manner with external Customers, Product Line Managers, Pre-Sales and BDM teams and our global GNE engineering team. Manages a team of strong IP domain Architects who understands and captures the critical inputs of stakeholders and translates them into effective requirements and solutions. Specifies and designs effective end-to-end solutions incl. customer-specific adaptations by using the Nokia portfolio of products, systems and / or services as well as 3rd party products where required.


What you will learn and contribute to

  • Guides in developing customer specific architecture and high-level solution design.
  • Participates in large, complex and / or key customer solution Use cases.
  • Closely work with Pre-sales teams to evaluate the E2E Solution and Scope for technical Impacts/ risks and develop respective mitigation plans
  • Acts as a senior subject matter expert, typically at a global or regional level, in many organisational units the most senior internal expert who serves as best practice / quality resource and is an acknowledged authority both within and outside own organisational unit.
  • Working across organisations to achieve deployable solution and designs.
  • Applies solution architecture standards processes and principles, to create and maintain a solution's integrity over time, including verification that the solution and design meets the clients’ requirements.
  • Influences strategic decisions within professional area that affect the performance of the subfunction (EG a subset of a function, typically consisting of several areas with independent budgets).
  • Proactively seek to identify and address technical risks. In co-operation with the PM/TPM conduct risk assessments on the project and all suppliers; identifying and executing mitigation strategies to limit impact; support on reporting of risk exposure (cost, schedule, other); escalating, as appropriate.
  • Review product roadmap alignments with solution to be implemented with PLM engagement for entire Nokia IP portfolio.
  • Lead and manage technical aspects of Gate & Milestone Executions w.r.t to network Design & Architecture.
  • Often leads functional teams or projects with considerable resource requirements, risk, and complexity, handles day-to-day staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work.

  • Team leader
  • Solution Architecture and Description, Technical Scope of Work.
  • Requirement needs.
  • Inputs for HLD and Project Plan.
  • Risks & Mitigations.
  • Assist with roadmap alignment/gaps escalated to PLM.
  • Develop reference architecture for Services Library if project is first of kind

Your skills and experience

Skills:

  • Masters in Engineering or 15+ years of experience in the telecom industry, dealing with IP-MPLS, Cloud SDN and BNG/Packet Core technologies.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in leading a strong technical team involved in designing large Telco/Enterprise networks
  • Knowledgeable on Virtualization, SDN & NFV concepts and related technologies.
  • Knowledgeable on E2E Mobile Solutions, Mobile & Packet Core concepts and related technologies.
  • Knowledgeable on scripting and mastering programming languages and techniques.
  • Knowledgeable on Network Management Systems, networking concepts and related technologies.
  • Nokia SRA/Virtuoso, Cisco CCIE, Juniper JNCIE or equivalent Certification are a plus.

Experience:

  • Excellent in designing networking equipment for Carrier, SDN and NFV Solutions and Concepts
  • Experience in selling and delivering Datacenter/Carrier Network and Solutions
  • Excellent in designing E2E Mobile Networks, Backhaul and Core Solutions and Concepts
  • Detailed understanding of 3GPP interfaces, IP/MPLS concepts and related technologies
  • Strong Linux/Unix shell and datacenter networking knowledge

  • Nokia SDN & NFV portfolio – SRLinux, Nuage, vEPC, VSR, NSP, etc.
  • Nokia IP Router portfolio - 7x50 XRS/SR/ESS/SRa and 7705/7210 portfolio
  • Nokia EPC/BNG portfolio – CUPS BNG, S/PGW, MME, vEPC
  • VMWare ESXi, vCloud/vCenter, OpenStack, CloudStack, OpenFlow, KVM, Xen, Hyper-V RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu, Java, Python/Perl etc.
