The Director of Career Advising & Employer Relations oversees all employer and alumni relations and is responsible for developing, managing and implementing efforts to support MFE students in their internship and full-time search. The Director also manages the career team to implement career advising and programming for the MFE students, providing skill building workshops and individualized career counseling sessions.Duties related to Employer/Alumni Relations and Recruitment strategies include, but are not limited to:
1. Establish on and off campus recruitment efforts including scheduling company visits and occasional on-site interviews for MFE students with employers.
2. Lead the career team with organizing large-scale events including: MFE career fairs, spring break trips with students and formal alumni gatherings.
3. In collaboration with career team, compile and send out Resume Books to potential employers.
4. Develop strong professional relationships with employer recruitment professionals.
5. Build the MFE presence in cities outside of LA (NYC, SF, Boston, Chicago). Organize and oversee annual travel to NYC and SF to visit employers with a group of students.
7. Partner with Senior Career Consultant based in NYC on employer relations and opportunities on the east coast. Strategize on east coast opportunities and promoting MFE students.
8. Oversee communications (including social media efforts) as it relates to promoting our students to employers.
9. Data oversight: Maintain database of recruiting companies. Collect and manage data on MFE alumni. Complete reports and analysis on employment outcomes for ranking purposes.
10. Partner with various centers and academic programs across Anderson on events, speakers.
11. Oversee the Quant Finance Fellowship program.
12. Oversee the Alumni Career Coaching program.
12. Represent the Anderson School to recruiters and alumni and at conferences, professional networks, events.
13. Present at admissions information sessions and other recruiting events as appropriate.
14. Collaborate with MFE Team members as needed, to support large, student-centered events including Orientation and Graduation.
Duties related to Career Advising and student-centered support include but are not limited to:
1. Develop and conduct workshops in areas such as self-assessment, resume writing, networking, LinkedIn, interviewing and salary negotiations. Where needed, initiate and oversee workshops by outside vendors.
2. Oversee individual and group advising sessions.
3. Ensure onboarding and access to various career platforms for students, including Handshake, 12Twenty, and Canvas.
4. Updating and building out new resources on the MFE career portal in Canvas.
5. Oversee the Career Development Series. Design course requirement, build out the Canvas course page, facilitate workshops and sessions as appropriate within the series, and oversee grading and operations and content for the course.
6. Collaborate with faculty on the content and logistics of the Communication Development Series.
7. Maintain primary oversight for summer internship opportunities.
8. Guide students through the CPT and OPT process, providing timelines and overview, in partnership with the international student center.
9. Partner with students to evaluate career options including compensation and negotiation strategies.
10. Explore and leverage resources across Anderson programs and Parker Career Management Center for the benefit of the MFE students
11. Develop and maintain resources relevant to supporting students' professional education and readiness for the job search. Explore new technologies and resources to support those efforts.
Role includes occasional travel and evenings.
