Job Purpose
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Close Protection Officer x2 to perform close protection and security duties for the top Executives and Board Members.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4- Security-related training / Close Protection Course of related training
- Accredited certification in Firearm training
- Minimum of 5 years experience within the Security industry or related.
- Prior Experience as a Close Protection Official to high profile principals in South Africa will be and added advantage.
- Code B driving license
- Ability to drive a light motor vehicle (Code 08 /10/)
- Should be Physically fit
- Preparedness to travel and work long hours
- Should be a South African Citizen
- Clear criminal record
- Sober habits
Major Responsibilities:
- Conducting discreet surveillance and continuously assessing the security risks and acting swiftly to mitigate the risks.
- Protecting the Principal in any potentially dangerous or life-threatening situations.
- Assist the Principal and Board with driving/escort to meetings, appointments, and presentations within and outside the premises and/or environment.
- Inspect the Principals residence on arrival at the residence, for any forceful entry, suspicious people, strange objects, vehicles, etc for the Principals safety.
- Controlling access to the Principal by timeously arranging parking for his/her visitors, facilitating their smooth movement through security checkpoint (s), and escorting them to and from his/her office
- Identifying and resolving security breaches at head office, which includes inspecting suspicious objects and movements around the building.
- Proactive reconnaissance of venues before visiting/attending. Given the itinerary of the Principal, there is an expectation to determine a safe route destination and to describe vulnerabilities.
- Familiarisation with the emergency services for various routes and areas
- e.g. medical services, fire, and emergency services SAPS, etc for ease of assistance in case of emergency.
- Coordinating with external protection service providers on an ad hoc basis when additional services are required for the protection of the Principal and the Board.
- Provision of a secure courier service for the Principal and Boards confidential mail and ensure the safe keeping of records.
- Perform Act 85-related tasks with regard to safety equipment in the office of the Principal.
- Management of company leased vehicles entrusted to the office of the Principal by:
- Keeping an updated logbook of the vehicle,
- Ensuring that the vehicle is roadworthy.
- Timeous recording and reporting of all safety-related incidents/accidents.
- Completing the pre-and post-trip inspections
- Check water, fuel, and oil levels and ensure that such are adjusted accordingly as required.
- Ensure that the vehicle is adequately and timeously refueled before every trip.
- Examine the exterior and interior of the vehicle and record and report any defects noted.
- Frequent tyre pressure checks, including spare wheel, and ensure that the required tools are available and reliable.
- Perform power and brake tests and test the effectiveness of the brakes.
- Check the lights and ensure they are in good working condition for the vehicles trips.
- Ensure that all the documents required by law are available/ valid and in order.
- Complete the departure inspection sheet and the post-trip inspection sheet.
- Ensure that the vehicle is always clean and compliant with COVID-19 protocols.
- Ensure adherence and compliance with the Principals office regulatory framework.
- Develop and implement a close protection risk management and strategy.
- Develop and manage the effective implementation of a close protection risk log.
- Understand the key close protection risks around the Principal and the Board and report and raise them in the appropriate forums.
- Proactively manage critical risks and ensure mitigating actions are well thought through and implemented.
- Ensure timely compilation and submission of all the required reports (internal
- and external) to ensure compliance.
- Manage Service Level Agreements with the various Business Units to manage the Principal and the Boards close protection expectations.
- Manage and provide regular reports on SLA compliance while identifying inefficiency areas.
- Develops, implements, and communicates close protection services procedures
- to enable efficient and effective delivery of this service.
- Support the development of the close protection services budget.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of the approved budget.
- Manage the costs involved while maintaining quality of service.
- Compile and provide required reports on the utilisation of the budget.
- Identify and prevent irregular and fruitless, and wasteful expenditures.
- Provide the required supporting documents to enable an effective auditing process.
- Manage and coordinate close protection services resources.
- Develop and conclude performance management contracts and ensure effective management thereof.
