CCSM MENTOR - Contracted Position
The CCSM Mentor supports and imparts knowledge to student midwives (mentees) through their CCSM educational experience. Support and knowledge will be shared primarily through virtual mentor sessions, which will include developing SMART goals, restorative justice practices, establishing boundaries and preventing burnout, managing difficult birth outcomes, stress management, time and organization management, professionalism, NARM prep, and more.
CCSM Mentors will work with mentees to develop and meet their goals and garner the necessary knowledge and skills to be proficient professional community midwives. CCSM Mentors will actively listen and provide advice, information, and resources through means
of nonviolent communication with the goal of preparing mentees for a career in midwifery and improving their midwifery educational experience.
CCSM Mentors will provide two reports during their mentorship sessions with their assigned mentee. One report will be requested after the completion of half the contracted sessions, and the final report will be requested after the completion of the last mentorship session.
The CCSM Mentorship Program is offered to students in two phases throughout their educational experience. The first phase provides 15 mentorship sessions and the second phase provides 8 mentorship sessions, with each phase covering a variety of topics to support the student throughout their educational journey.
SKILLS OF A CCSM MENTOR
CCSM Mentors are expected to be passionate and consistent in their efforts to support students attain their goals and strive for excellence throughout their midwifery education and in preparation for their midwifery careers. They should be able to actively listen, offer
unbiased advice and resources, and coach mentees in order to promote the achievement of personal and professional development. Proficiency in Zoom and Gmail is required for this position.

Position Summary: CCSM Mentors are responsible for the completion of all contracted mentorship sessions with their assigned mentee; furthermore, these sessions are to help mentees acclimate and progress throughout the CCSM Midwifery Hybrid Direct-Entry
Program. CCSM Mentors report directly to CCSM’s Director of Student Services.
Position Hours and Location: 8 - 15 hours as outlined in your contract, weekly 1-hour sessions conducted based on the schedule established by mentor and mentee within the contracted timeframe. 4 additional hours when initially onboarded for orientation, required
outside trainings, and meet & greet event. Flexible hours and completely virtual, as this is an independent contractor position.*
Position Compensation: $60/hr, 12 - 19 hours total. The CCSM Mentor contract will confirm the total hours based on which mentorship phase the mentor is hired for.

- Please note: Application and acceptance into CCSM Mentorship Program do not guarantee a mentor will be matched with a mentee as this program is voluntary for CCSM students. If hired into CCSM Mentorship Program, mentors will be added to a mentor pool

- Midwife of 3 years+
- Certification as a birth worker and/or mentor preferred
- 2 years experience with student midwives (academically and/or clinically)
- Proficiency with Zoom Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the establishment and progress of the mentee’s SMART goals
- Impart knowledge and skills through personal experiences, unbiased resources, and coaching
- Assist students in understanding their educational needs through administering the VARK assessment
- Actively listen to the mentee’s unique needs and experiences, so as to best support the mentee
- Promote professional development by exhibiting professionalism and providing advice from personal experiences
- Assist students in preparations for a career in midwifery and taking the NARM exam
- Share resources as applicable to the growth and development of the mentee
- Communicate nonviolently when presenting ways in which the mentee may improve themselves and achieve their goals
- Read and reference the CCSM Catalog as necessary
- Communicate any violations of FERPA and/or CCSM policies including the Confidentiality policy
- Complete all required mentorship training as well as attend orientation and meet & greet events facilitated by CCSM
- Embody JJWay® tenants so as to organically incorporate them into mentorship sessions
- Adhere to the mentorship contract and any other written modifications provided by the Director of Student Services and/or agreed upon by all parties
- Provide reports to the Director of Student Services upon the completion of half the contracted mentorship session and the final mentorship session
- Meet with the Director of Student Services upon the completion of half the contracted mentorship session and the final mentorship session
