HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Graphic Design Supervisor oversees the process for creating, updating, and implementing graphic communications and branding standards for the Zoo, together with advertising, marketing, educational, merchandise, food service, and interpretive graphic materials; and designs off-grounds signage, printed materials, and collateral applications. This position reports to the Director of Creative Service.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Oversee Graphic Design staff including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring performance management and scheduling of work.
- Oversee creative production of the SDZWA Journal executing the majority of the design of the book.
- Supervise the design process as well as plans and develops designs from concept to completed artwork through the use of mockups, camera art, illustration, and computer-based graphic design systems.
- Share designs with customers for feedback as well as paper stock, graphic content, layout, graphic materials, and media requirements.
- Provide priority artwork to support unplanned needs throughout SDZWA.
The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is looking for an experienced creative leader. Guiding work across the full spectrum of both print and digital applications, the ideal candidate will have experience leading creative teams to produce exceptional work. A portfolio demonstrating creative ability and leadership is required. Brand experience and the ability to curate and maintain brand standards across a wide variety of materials is strongly preferred. This position will both maintain existing identity systems and create new ones complete with supporting creative strategy and key art packages. - JOB EXPERIENCE
- At least one year of Graphic Design experience and
- At least one year of supervisory experience.
- EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Graphics Design, related field, or equivalent specialized training required.
- SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Strong working knowledge of graphic arts production and graphic design technology.
- Strong working knowledge of Illustration, typography, offset/digital printing, and production.
- Interpretive design and natural science experience and best practice knowledge required.
- Able to operate Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite design program and InDesign.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines resulting in a high level of quality and timeliness.
- Demonstrated ability to lead highly effective, diverse teams.
- Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
