Display Business Summary

The Display segment is one of Applied Materials' three major business segments. Display sells equipment used to manufacture televisions, computer monitors, tablet computers, smartphones, and other mobile devices. The segment has experienced significant growth in recent years. The size and structure of the business, along with local access to senior management, make it a good fit for finance professionals interested in developing a broad understanding of the business - general management, product development, manufacturing & supply chain, sales, marketing, facilities, etc.

Job Summary

This Financial Analyst will report to the Display Global Sales and Field Operations Controller. S/he will work with the FSO, TPS/PSE and regional finance teams to manage Display's I&W and retrofit spend and support related cost reduction initiatives. This individual will also manage Display's global sales program spend and related financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage field spending for Display's $1.6B organization: Partner with BU, FSO and regional finance teams to review, monitor and report on I&W spend.
  • Drive automated reporting capabilities to improve agility: Upgraded Tableau dashboards and developed new dashboards to improve analytical and operational efficiency to support Display Engineering, GPM, TPM, BU Ops for field operations.
  • Own accounting treatment for I&W expenses and reserves by facilitating monthly I&W review meeting to address financial issues and reserve adequacy
  • Identify and help drive cost efficiencies, growth opportunities and process improvements along with cost reduction initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales Operations to manage the sales department spend forecast, SIP program and management reporting for the global sales team.
  • Strengthens compliance and controls in appropriate areas and approves funding requests
  • Ad hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as requested by business partners and/or financial management
  • Support quarterly BSR, MQU, CMT forecasts

Requirements

  • Strong Accounting/Finance skills and curiosity and enthusiasm for the high tech business environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills
  • Ability to plan, execute and deliver projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to understand and translate financial and operational data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • 5 years of finance related work experience (3 years at Applied)
  • SAP, BPC, Tableau experience preferred
  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred
