- Presenting isiXhosa language proficiency modules and short courses offered by the Language Centre to students and staff members through face-to-face and blended modes of delivery;
- Assisting with the development and review of syllabi, course material and assessments informed by innovative and appropriate teaching techniques (including blended learning materials) which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students;
- Performing administrative tasks relating to isiXhosa language proficiency modules and short courses;
- Assisting with training and mentoring isiXhosa facilitators working within the Language Centre;
- Assisting with the translation of academic and institutional texts from English into isiXhosa;
- Assisting with quality assurance (editing/proof-reading/revision) of existing isiXhosa academic and institutional translations;
- Translating and developing isiXhosa terminology for academic and institutional purposes;
- Ensuring the quality of existing isiXhosa academic and institutional terminology;
- Assisting with context-specific research to inform best practice in the field of second-language teaching and/or terminology development;
- Participating in the Language Centre's multilingual mindset working group and isiXhosa working group.

- Ukuguqula nokuphuhlisa isigama sesiXhosa ngenjongo yezifundo kunye neziko;
- Ukuqinisekisa umgangatho wesigama esikhoyo sesiXhosa esezifundo kunye neseziko;
- Ukuncedisa kuphando lwezihloko ezithile zokwazisa ezona ndlela zingcono zokufundisa ulwimi lwesibini kunye/okanye uphuhliso lwesigama;

Aanbieding van die isiXhosa-taalvaardigheidsmodules en -kortkursusse wat deur die Taalsentrum beskikbaar is, deur kontak- en gemengde leweringsmodusse vir studente en personeellede;- Hulpverlening met die ontwikkeling en hersiening van sillabusse, kursusmateriaal en assesserings onderlê deur innoverende en toepaslike onderrigtegnieke (waaronder gemengde leermateriaal), wat belangstelling wek en begrip en geesdrif onder studente aanwakker;
- Voer administratiewe take ten opsigte van die isiXhosa-taalvaardigheidsmodules en -kortkursusse uit;
- Hulpverlening met die opleiding en mentorskap van die isiXhosa-fasiliteerders wat in die Taalsentrum werk;
- Hulpverlening met die vertaling van akademiese en institusionele tekste vanuit Engels na isiXhosa;
- Hulpverlening met die gehalteversekering (redigering/proeflees/hersiening) van bestaande akademiese en institusionele vertalings in isiXhosa;
- Vertaal en ontwikkel isiXhosa-terminologie vir akademiese en institusionele doeleindes;
- Verseker die gehalte van bestaande akademiese en institusionele terminologie in isiXhosa;
- Hulpverlening met konteksspesifieke navorsing om die beste praktyk op die gebied van die onderrig van 'n tweede taal en/of die ontwikkeling van terminologie te onderlê;
- Neem deel aan die Taalsentrum se taakgroep vir veeltaligheidsingesteldheid en die isiXhosa-taakgroep.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- A relevant honours degree or similar relevant qualification in second-language acquisition or other, related fields;
- At least two years' teaching experience in the higher education environment, specifically in second-language acquisition;
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment protocols;
- Experience in translation from English to isiXhosa;
- Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to work in a complex academic environment;
- A proven ability to manage time and work according to strict deadlines;
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams);
- Excellent interpersonal, as well as verbal and written communication skills in isiXhosa;
- Very good understanding of spoken and written English.

Shortlisted candidates must be willing to take a translation proficiency test, as well as to demonstrate practically an aspect of teaching isiXhosa as a second language. Additionally, they must be willing to complete a timed written assignment.

Kandidate wat die kortlys haal, moet instem om 'n vertaalvaardigheidstoets af te lê en ook 'n aspek van die onderrig van isiXhosa as 'n tweede taal te demonstreer. Daarbenewens moet hulle instem om 'n skriftelike opdrag met 'n tydsbeperking af te handel.
