The role/Te mahi

As the Business Support Co-ordinator for Te Whai Ao — Dodd-Walls Centre (DWC), you will coordinate a range of business development and administrative activities for the centre, and provide proactive and professional support to the Programme Manager and Business Development Manager

This role guarantees variety and will include:
  • Providing committee meeting support.
  • Contributing to our annual reporting data collection.
  • Maintaining our website.
  • Overseeing the financial transactions, reconciliations and funding awards.
  • Managing our general emails and communications including newsletters.
  • Handling the logistics for travel for major events including our annual symposium.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Excellent communication skills – you’re confident in your verbal and written communication.
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team within set time frames.
  • A strong working knowledge of Office 365 – you’ll use this most days.
  • Experience gathering and summarising information.
  • An ability to recognise potential process improvements and implement them.

Our team delivers at a high standard. Your ability to thrive in a busy environment while having a proactive and positive attitude is essential. While experience working within a research institute would be an advantage, it is not essential.

About our team/Mō te tīma

The DWC is a Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE), based in the Physics Department and hosted by the University of Otago.

As a CoRE, we have over 200 researchers and students from six partner universities, working in quantum optics, photonics, biophotonics and precision atomic physics.

Our Centre engages in educational outreach and commercialisation activities.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours), permanent position, located in Dunedin.
