Contract Building Security Officer
[Salary: $34,015 - $70,655 plus 10% Year-end Incentive Payment]
Main Duties:
1. To formulate and implement security measures and operations in the Housing Authority
Headquarters (HAHQ) Building and other Housing Authority properties managed by the Housing
Department;
2. To undertake security monitoring duties and respond to emergency situations for HAHQ Building;
3. To liaise with the Hong Kong Police Force and other emergency services regarding security and
safety matters in the HAHQ Building;
4. To oversee the cleansing and maintenance services of the HAHQ Building;
5. To liaise with security and cleaning service contractors of HAHQ Building regarding day-to-day
operations and deployment.
6. To formulate training strategies and programmes for the security team in HAHQ Buildings; and
7. To supervise an Assistant Building Security Officer.
(Appointee to the rank may be required to work outside normal office hours to deal with emergencies and
special operations)
Entry Requirements:
Applicants should:
(i) possess good general education, preferably a recognized university degree;
(ii) have at least 5 years’ experience in the Inspector/Officer grade of a disciplinary force in Hong
Kong, or at least 5 years’ supervisory level experience in building management and security
operations of related fields, in sizable organizations;
(iii) have Level 2 (“Grade E” before 2007) or above in Chinese Language and English Language
(“Syllabus B” before 2007) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent;
(iv) be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English; and
(v) possess good analytical, communication and supervisory skills and be able to work independently
and under pressure.
Terms of Appointment:
The appointment will be on Housing Authority’s regular terms of employment, with continuous
employment being offered till an employee reaches the prevailing retirement age upon passing the
probationary period. A competitive pay package, which is commensurate with the employee’s
qualification and experience, will be offered. On top of the monthly base salary, the employee
may receive a year-end incentive payment at 10% of the total annual base salary received upon
satisfactory completion of every full year of service. An employee who has completed no less
than six months of service by the end of the first calendar year of his/ her employment may also
receive a year-end incentive payment calculated on a pro-rata basis. The entry pay, terms of
appointment and conditions of service to be offered are subject to the provisions prevailing at the
time the offer of appointment is made.

Applications will be processed according to the qualifications attained and working experience
obtained by the applicant by the closing date for application. Where a large number of
candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the shortlisting criteria may be devised to select
the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted
candidates will be invited to attend the interview.
